We have a big announcement;

March 29th - 31st
We are so excited to announce that
registration is now OPEN for MTERA's 2022 virtual conference!

With the support of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, MTERA will be hosting our conference virtually March 29th-31st and we will be bringing together
Tribal leaders, federal and state agencies, educators, and energy industry experts as they discuss successful Tribal energy projects, state and federal energy policy, and strategic energy planning.
Registration is FREE!

Community Energy Management Grant Program
Deadline: Application open, ongoing until all funds are committed

Funding Agency: Michigan EGLE Office of Climate and Energy

Energy Services will offer financial incentives to any local government, tribal government, or other public service entity physically located in Michigan for energy related implementation projects, recommended from energy audits and assessments that can be completed between December 1, 2021 and July 31, 2022.  The maximum rebate award is $15,000 per applicant.
Fiscal Year 2021 Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities
Deadline: 28 Jan 2022
Funding Agency: Dept. Homeland Security FEMA


This grant recognizes the "growing hazards associated with climate change, and of the need for natural hazard risk mitigation activities that promote climate adaptation and resilience with respect to those hazards." Within these parameters, energy projects, storage, mini-grids, etc. are all projects that would make great applicant candidates!

Pursuant to the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARP), EPA’s Office of Air Quality Planning & Standards (OAQPS) is announcing the availability of funds and soliciting applications from eligible entities to conduct ambient air monitoring of pollutants of greatest concern in communities with environmental and health outcome disparities stemming from pollution and the COVID-19 pandemic. EPA will award funds to support community and local efforts to monitor their own air quality and to promote air quality monitoring partnerships between communities and tribal, state, and local governments.
Minnesota Power's Low-Income Solar Program
Deadline: 7 Mar 2022 for Spring Funding Round

Funding Agency: MN Power

The Low Income Solar Program provides funding for projects that make it possible for income-qualified customers to have easier access to solar power. Applications for projects that benefit income-qualified customers or facilities that serve income-qualified customers can be submitted by Minnesota Power customers, solar installers or developers, or community groups.

This grant has a posted deadline of 15 March 2022, however: this grant is taking and considering applications on a rolling basis and giving priority to those applying sooner. MTERA highly encourages Member Tribes to apply as soon as possible!
Funding Agency: Dept. of Energy

Following the application evaluation process, selected communities will embark on a project scoping phase (lasting approximately 1 to 2 months) to discuss community priorities and finalize project proposals with technical assistance providers. Selected communities and technical assistance providers will then execute the project, which will be informed by the scoping phase, over a period of 12 to 18 months.

***NOTE: This Technical Assistance project is open to Tribes in the Midwest! Reach out to eti@ee.doe.gov for more information.
